Wedding Rings: Symbol of Love and Commitment throughout Time

Wedding Rings are one of the most significant pieces of jewelry many people cherish. These rings signify not only their love and devotion to their spouse but also the promise of a lifetime companionship, love, trust and partnership they have made to the person they married. Wedding ceremonies and traditions may differ all over the world, but the presence of wedding rings in marriages is something most weddings have in common.

Many articles, photographs and historical evidences may tell us when and how the tradition of using rings in weddings started. It is even believed that Mary and Joseph, known as the parents of Jesus Christ, used a ring in their wedding, although the said ring was not made of gold, silver or platinum like most wedding rings of today’s trend are.

Nowadays, many couples shop for wedding rings together. Although the internet has made it easier for many people to shop for wedding rings without leaving the comfort of their own homes, some people still prefer visiting different jewelry stores to see the selection of wedding rings in person. This is advantageous as they can be allowed to try the rings on, to help them determine if the rings are comfortable enough for them to wear everyday for the rest of their lives and if the design suits their personality and preferences.

The Basics of Speed Dating

One of the many trends among singles, young and not-so-young alike, is speed dating. In speed dating, a large group of single or uncommitted individuals gather in a specific venue. The main purpose for this is to allow these singles to meet many people.

Usually in speed dating, the venue is divided into several stations. These stations are usually comprised of small tables with two chairs. The two chairs are for a man and a woman, two women, or two men. To meet as many people as possible one after the other, people rotate stations in a usually pre-determined time limit for each station. The time limit is often three to five minutes, allowing the participants to just exchange some information about each other and create impressions of their selves in such a speedy time, hence the term speed dating. In some cases, a bell or a buzzer goes off to signal the end of the elapsed time so that the participants would know that it is time to move on to the next table or station.

To help their selves remember important details such as the names and the phone numbers of the people they have met, many participants bring notepads and pens to speed dating events.
